A native of the Chicago area, Mark was influenced by the diverse music that permeated the local culture at the time. After graduating magna cum laude from the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mark moved to Los Angeles and soon landed a job touring with Tom Jones. Hollingsworth was soon a first call session player regularly working on sessions for film, albums and commercial recordings. Mark eventually expanded his career to include composition and production. He has used those skills for his own projects as well as jingles and projects for TV and for other artists.

As a solo artist, Mark's critically acclaimed 2005 release “On the Mark” dominated the Top 10 at Music Choice for nearly a full year. His second release "Chasing the Sun" (2007) was completely self produced and written. The albums have received great praise by critics.
